Pique-nique and Dub-Stuy present the IMRiddim and Touch a Drum ensembles performing Count Ossie’s classic album 'Grounation'.
Part of the "Take Two" deep-listening series, the afternoon will consist of an uninterrupted playback of the 1972 album followed by a live reinterpretation by a 14-piece ensemble, connecting the dots between record culture and live music culture.
An undisputed classic of Rastafarian-inspired music, this album features Yoshi Takemasa’s mentor, the late tenor saxophonist Cedric “Im” Brooks, recreating a Rasta grounation, or gathering, that combines Rastafari consciousness with deep spiritual jazz.

The album will be introduced with live "liner notes" by founder of Coney Island Reggae and WKCR DJ Carter Van Pelt.
Dub-Stuy and Takuya Nakamura’s Cosmic Jungle will then advance the dance, connecting the dots between roots reggae, steppers, dub stompers, dancehall, D&B, and cosmic jungle.
Due to limited capacity, $15 advance tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis on Dice.
